An exhibition and film session dedicated to Gautam Buddha, Lighting a lamp for somebody brightens one’s path was held on May 16-20, 2016 at Gorky Sadan, Kolkata. Artist Goutam Ghosh showcased his paintings during the exhibition.
The event was organised by the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Kolkata, Asia Centre, Forum for Collectors, Generation Next, Progress Literary Club and Eienstein Cine Club.
The event was graced by honourable guests, Sushobhan Adhikari, Curator of Kala Bhavan Museum, Visva Bharati and Shyamal Chakraborty, former director of the Indian Museum.
A film session dedicated to Buddha showcased the following movies: Light of Asia, directed by Franz Osten, Tathagata, directed by Shahzad Firdaus, and Siddhartha, directed by Conard Rooks.
Sumanpal Bhikkhu is the editor of Nalanda journal, and Guest lecturer, with the Department of Languages, Calcutta University.
