A little monk school is another attraction of Khechuperi, a small village in Sikkim, India.
At present, around 12 boys are attending the school. They learn Tibetan, English, history of Sikkim and Dharma. The children participate in the ceremonies and funerals learning about liturgy, how to play the instruments and use accessories, arranging the altars, singing mantras.
They have a very active and important role in the community as young monks. During funerals, little monks have a very tough task. They can be seen for hours praying by the dead body the night before the burning of the pyre. This is primarily done so that they are able to build a strong connection with the concept of death.
